Leaving Home - Orchestral Music in the 20th Century

The precursors of this change in musical creation are the Impressionists and Symbolists, the new nationalism, expressionism and the historical vanguards.

Two currents emerged in the first half of the century: neoclassicism and twelve-tone serial. Shortly thereafter, in the fifties, the integral serialism creates series for heights, dynamics, rhythms and timbres. This complex music is confronted in the sixties for the aleatoric music, minimalism and Happening.

UNIT 15 DAY 4 - From the 20th Century and beyond.

Questionnaire (Unit 15 Day 4 - Sixtieth Lecture of 3ESO)

What do you think Music is going to be like in the 21th Century?
Open question for all of you.

It is hard to know which direction is going to take the Music of the 21st Century.

The line between Popular Classical Music increasingly blurs

New timbres and instruments arise every day and with Internet and new technologies of image and sound is impossible to think which way is going to take Music creation.

In addition, the way of thinking of the audiences and the artist are changing in all the arts, changing as well the rules of the game. Only an educated and innovative society would be able to find the best formulas. If the official culture and taste of young people continues to be so conservative little or nothing could be expected, but if something changes that tendency,  the more than possible manifestations of the Music of the Future will be of great quality and creativity.
